Foxtails Photography, your local Jackson Hole Wedding Photographer

Hello there!

I’m Kayla, a film photographer based here in the Tetons.

I’ve lived in Wyoming for 21 years and have been photographing weddings for 13 years now which is WILD! Party coming soon to celebrate 🙂

Over these years, I have gain knowledge of our area, weather, vendors, and how to photograph a wedding. But more importantly, is how I’ve learned to lean into my creative side and understand my couple. To give them what they want and need, but also to anticipate what they will really want when their wedding day is all wrapped up in these beautiful photographs.

Film and Digital Photography

I shoot a mix of film and digital. Each wedding you’ll find me with around 5-8 cameras as I play with camera around 100 years old and the newest most up to date digital ones. I love shooting film because it makes us slow down and really soak it all up. This is important for me to bring that moment to my couples. The day is so fast paced, so if we can use art to document such beauty and emotion, I also want it to hold the space for my couples to soak up the energy, smell, visuals, and love around them. Plus I’m going to make you stare deeply into each others eyes and a few other things which is sooooo romantic and fun!

My style of photography is more documentary and candid with a loose editorial flair. It’s not a surprise that couples favorite photographs are the candid ones, but having some photographs where I can direct you and feel candid but yet are slightly posed is also a top favorite among my couples. Being a director is a big part of being a photographer, from lighting and location to minor adjustments. It helps you to look and feel your best while living in the moment. It also helps that I am so positive and energetic, the ability to read a room and help give someone a ” job” if they are getting on your nerves or being that safe space to bring calmness. Our energy and personality is a big part on top of the art. Kinda like a sundae, we love the ice cream but toppings can sweeten it even more!

Jackson Hole Wedding Photography Packages

My wedding photography packages start off with a base of 8 hours of wedding day photography coverage. This includes both digital and film as well as a second photographer. It is just so important that I have a second so that we can get all the best angles as well as be in two different locations if anything runs behind schedule. In addition to your wedding day, each package includes a complimentary engagement session. Not every couple gets to come out before the wedding day but if you can, it’s a great way for us to get to know each other and help you feel prepared for your wedding day. Not to mention, you get some gorgeous shots so show off of your engagement!

The other piece of this wedding package is your rehearsal dinner. being able ot meet your family and friends while capturing a bit more relaxed photography is another part of setting up your wedding day for success. Each of these times have such different energy and I really adore being able to document that!

This package is $13,000 for a total of 10 hours of film + digital coverage between the wedding day, engagement, and rehearsal. Below I’ll explain more on building out a custom package and how this package might not fit everyone so we can build out to fit a lower budget or if you’re having a small wedding, this just might be too many hours!

The Photographs

I deliver a sneak peek of around 100 images within 72 hours of your wedding. As soon as film arrives, I send that over. Which is a fun little in between moment of the sneak peek and full gallery. Usually in 2-3 weeks after your wedding. Full gallery comes in 6-10 weeks. Ideally, I like it out in 4-6 weeks but incase of holidays or extra editing, it allows time for that.

Speaking of editing, what all is included?

I like to say anything that isn’t naturally there. So scratches, bruises, breakouts, dog hair, or any pesky bugs. I understand that sometimes we wake up to surprises so it’s important for you to not have to worry about those things! Also love to clean up hair because outdoor weddings often have wind or sometimes we just dance our hair undone! If it is windy, I of course work with the wind and your hair but sometimes it just flies all over the place! In those moments, I do enjoy leaving some images with the wild hair so you can look back and laugh as you remember the wind.

Planning and Process

In addition to your photography, you’ll be receiving my exclusive client guides for Jackson Hole. This is a HUGE help to couples as it gives you all of my TOP recommendations in a fun, digital guide. The first guide includes venues, vendors, and lodging. I’ve tried to stay at every hotel around so that I can give you real insight into the experience in addition to a photography perspective! I always give you 3 personalized recommendations for each vendor too. It is all based on your style, personality, and budget. This way I can set you up for the most success.

We usually have a few meetings during planning and I also chat directly with your planner and other vendors so that we be the best team on your wedding day and consider multiple creative perspectives. I share a questionnaire to review some details and questions to help me build out your photography timeline. If you prefer for me to speak directly with the planner I can do that too but usually it’s best for the three of us to dive into it.

Building a Photography Package

I build out a custom packages for each of my couples. Some couples might want an extra day of coverage for the welcome dinner or a special activity, others want to keep it simple with the wedding day and rehearsal dinner. The key is to deciding how much time on your wedding day we want to include in the package. 8-12 hours is usually what we spend on a wedding day and that is decided upon the size of your wedding, how many locations, and if you’re wanting me to photograph an exit or afterparty.

I also realize that not every couple wants to invest in film. It’s pricy and so if couples really don’t care about it, we can build out a package without it. For example, the package listed above is 10,000 without film but still includes the 10 hours of photography and a second photographer.

For those of you having intimate weddings, you honestly might not need 8 hours of wedding day coverage and maybe don’t want a second photographer. It really varies with each couple, the size of their wedding, and locations. That is why building out a custom package to fit your needs and budget is so important. Because of this, I always recommend booking the smallest package and then if you want to add more time later or add on film even, you can. My goal is give my couples the BEST photography ad experience but also to help you couples save money or stick with a budget. So we strategize where to put your hours and what matters most.

Other Offerings

Couples often add on albums or prints, boudoir session, or bridal session. Sometimes I’m flown out to meet my couple for their engagement session or bachelorette party. If there is something you’re dreaming of, we can always add that on!

Booking

If you love my style, and personality then I can’t wait to chat more about you two and your wedding!

You can send an inquiry HERE or check out more about my weddings HERE.

Starting in 2026, I am only taking on 10-12 weddings/elopements each season. This is because I really want to invest time for my couples. Quality over quantity. I really want to get to know my couples and be present if they have questions or need anything. Also am prioritizing getting photographs outs as quickly as possible. For me, experience for my couples is so important and I hope I get to welcome you to the Foxtails Family!

When to book?

I receive this question often, and the truth is that timing is entirely up to you. Availability can only be secured with a signed contract and retainer, so dates aren’t officially held until that step is complete.

Many couples reserve their wedding 12–16 months in advance, though I’ve also had beautiful celebrations come together just a few months out — including some of the most meaningful weddings I’ve ever photographed.

Life doesn’t always follow a perfect timeline, some of us are type A/1 people and some aren’t. Whether you’re planning far ahead or moving quickly, you’re always welcome to reach out to check current availability.

Thank You

I hope this was helpful and as a bride planning my own wedding, I realize there are a lot of moving parts!

But with all of that, I truly hope you enjoy being engaged and celebrating your love in the most meaningful way. Make sure to sit down and think about the kind of energy you want for your wedding, How do you want your timeline to feel? What are your most important investments? Are there any traditions you want at your wedding? Who are your ride or dies?

Most importantly, enjoy being engaged 🙂

Cheers,

Kayla

I'm Kayla

A red dirt girl from Oklahoma turned mountain woman with a camera in tow. I have a finesse for fine art in the West and over the years have built a legendary business that encompasses wild landscapes and romance among the mountains.

My love of photography has grown from digital to film. With my dad's old Minolta and vintage  film cameras I've picked up over the years, I use these to photograph my couples in an enduring medium that I adore.

Photography is a still moment, an emotion held forever. To look at and bring us right back to the moment. To remind us  how we felt,  of those we love, and something we cherish and pass down over generations.
