A Creative Collaboration with  House of Perez & Honey Flavored Kitchen

After the long summer season, fall brings good tidings by providing a beautiful, delicious harvest. This year, I celebrated by harvesting buckets of tomatoes and peppers and roasting some pumpkins in the oven. During this first bountiful harvest, I was thrilled to collaborate with Kacey, a Lifestyle Blogger + Creator for a lifestyle photography shoot. I couldn’t have been happier to get our harvest picked! It gave me a moment of calm in the rush that the change of season ushered in.

A Fall Harvest Dinner | Lifestyle Photography

So we would have something to look forward to, Kacey (of House of Perez) and I had planned on several lifestyle photography shoots at the beginning of the year. The fall harvest is one of my favorite times of year, and I knew that this would be a perfect time to curate our food and lifestyle shoots.  I am so surprised we pulled this shoot off as beautifully as we did, despite being extremely busy and not being able to create all of our recipes! We created such gorgeous results after dreaming this shoot up for 6 months!

A Food Blogger’s Fall Dream

For my contribution, I baked a fresh, gluten-free pumpkin cake with a caramel buttercream frosting and a caramel drizzle for our harvest banquet. I was looking forward to adding the cake to our composition, because cakes are so stunning to photograph!

I also roasted tons of poblanos, which turned into a creamy, green poblano soup, topped with caramelized bacon, onions and a sprinkle of cilantro. It had just a hint of spiciness, and the consistency was perfect once the cream was added! Hang tight for the recipes, because both of these will be  debuting soon!

Kacey made the most beautiful stuffed acorn squash to add onto our tablescape, which were a dream to photograph. They pulled in beautiful colors and textures which always catch the eye. Lifestyle photography is such a great asset for a lifestyle or food blogger to have for all the blogs and content that they create!

Autumn Decor – Lifestyle Photography Inspired by the Garden

To decorate our table, I put together some autumn-inspired florals. I used fresh roses from Grace Rose Farm and a mix of calendula, dried corn/milo, and some celosia that blended perfectly! It became the perfect autumn color palette with the beautiful oranges, pinks, yellows, and creams!

I had originally planned on doing a dried installation of all my corn stalks and grasses, but  didn’t have the time! Fall was so hectic this year so an important aspect of being creative it knowing your limits. Especially when it comes to being a multitasker. Our little bouquet was so stunning that I didn’t mind the change in plans. And, instead, I added two baskets full of corn and milo on each end of the table. I used dried corn stalks and milo in the bouquets to pull in some of the pieces from the garden. I love mixing up grasses or local plants in all of my bouquets! And these ones had so much texture and colors that I was fully smitten.. guess I might just have to pull this in for Thanksgiving too!

Backyard Fall Tablescape

For our tablescape, I collected a few mixed pieces from the cupboard and played with both vintage and modern feels! I purchased a gorgeous set of plates from West Elm this summer and mixed them with a set of vintage plates. I had seen a reoccurring trend this year, which is mix/matched table sets! We think this is because COVID forced family’s to pool together whatever they had during these tough times! So we went off this idea and pulled in two white plates with a set of pink glasses to mix up the center settings. I have to say that I hope this trend stays because I love the mixed/match style! One of my favorite pieces from this table is the vintage coupe glasses I picked up from a local antique store. I also love the caramel water glasses from Bella Cose in Jackson Hole. The moment my eyes fell upon these beauties, I knew they were destined for a glorious tablescape! 

We also played with rich yellows by using an April Cornell table runner! We also added the CUTEST napkins that had gold tassels. Both of these came from our amazing local home and kitchen store, Cottonwood Kitchen + Home.  

All of these elements came together to ensure that our table was warm, inviting, and super delicious! 

Oh, and we couldn’t forget to invite some of my favorite guests – my chickens! Since the garden was finally harvested, I was able to let our little chickens run around and not have to worry about the goods getting eaten. We love them to death, but I really get sick of chasing them out of the garden (and sometimes even my house!)
